Christopher D. Smith is the Founder and Chief Consulting Technologist of Convergent Systems, LLC, bringing more than 30 years of professional experience in information technology, systems engineering, enterprise infrastructure, telecommunications, and technology consulting. Throughout his career, Christopher has designed, deployed, managed, and supported technology environments for organizations ranging from locally owned businesses to Fortune 100, Fortune 500, and Global 500 enterprises. His expertise includes network and systems architecture, cloud computing, cybersecurity, software and application development, systems integration, enterprise migrations, and the management of complex technology initiatives. As the founder of Convergent Systems, I/O Networks, and several other technology-focused businesses, Christopher combines extensive technical experience with an entrepreneurial perspective that emphasizes business value, operational efficiency, and long-term client relationships.

Christopher spent approximately five years at Microsoft-JDATSG in roles encompassing Senior Active Directory Engineer, Enhanced Security Engineer, and Cloud Solutions Architect. During this engagement, he provided advanced technical guidance and engineering support to Global Delivery customers and Small and Medium Enterprise Channel Partners, with particular emphasis on enterprise infrastructure, identity management, cloud solutions, and Zero Trust security initiatives. His responsibilities included supporting complex Active Directory environments, strengthening enterprise security configurations, evaluating cloud architectures, and assisting organizations with the adoption of modern security frameworks and technology practices. This experience provides Convergent Systems with a valuable foundation in Microsoft technologies, enterprise identity and access management, cloud strategy, and security-focused infrastructure design.

Christopher's professional background extends across a broad range of technical disciplines and leadership responsibilities. With more than 20 years of experience in telecommunications and technology expense management, he has worked closely with major corporations to develop and deliver enterprise Software-as-a-Service solutions, telecommunications platforms, and systems integration initiatives. His career has included senior engineering, solutions architecture, infrastructure leadership, executive management, and business ownership roles. This breadth of experience brings an important perspective to Convergent Systems: technology must be evaluated not only for its technical capabilities, but also for its financial impact, operational sustainability, and contribution to business objectives.

Christopher oversees the strategic direction, technical standards, service delivery, and ongoing development of Convergent Systems. His leadership philosophy emphasizes thoughtful planning, technical precision, transparent communication, and direct accountability throughout the technology lifecycle. From initial consultation and systems architecture to implementation, operational management, and ongoing support, Christopher remains actively engaged in the engineering and strategic decisions that shape client solutions. This hands-on approach reflects the company's commitment to providing experienced technical guidance and establishing long-term relationships built on trust and consistent service.

Beyond his professional technology career, Christopher maintains an active role in the Sandhills community through education, volunteer leadership, and civic involvement. He serves on the Computer Technology Advisory Council at Sandhills Community College, contributing industry perspective and professional insight to technology education and workforce development. Christopher is also the Founder and Commissioner of Sandhills Motoring Club and Commissioner of Sandhills Motoring Expo, organizations dedicated to automotive enthusiasm, community engagement, and charitable giving. His previous leadership roles include serving as President of the Triangle Section of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, and he supports the Sandhills Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution as its Webmaster. These activities reflect a longstanding commitment to professional development, community involvement, and creating meaningful connections beyond the technology industry.
